In Memoriam – Marc Cardoen

On August 28, 2023, Marc Cardoen – founder of MC² (Marc Cardoen Consulting) – passed away unexpectedly due to heart failure. This website remains online as a tribute to his remarkable career and lifelong dedication to the power generation industry.

With over four decades of expertise in engineering, operations and strategic consulting, Marc was a trusted figure in thermal power plant management across Europe. From pioneering roles at Laborelec and Electrabel to leadership at Engie, his work was marked by innovation, integrity and deep technical insight.

MC² embodied not just his initials, but his personal mission: to bring energy, intelligence and practical solutions to complex challenges. Though the consultancy ended with his passing, his legacy lives on — through this archive, and in the many colleagues and professionals he inspired. Condolences can be expressed here.
